Conny Janssen Danst zelf draagt choreograaf Davide Bellotta voor in de 5e editie van dit talentontwikkelingstraject. Davide maakte voor DANSLOKAAL 2 al de choreografie “re MEM b.e.r. (by excaping reality)”. In DANSLOKAAL 5 werkt hij aan een nieuw stuk met dansers Martijn Kappers, Mariko Shimoda, Youp Scheffer en Maud Huizing. We stelden Davide enkele vragen over zijn werk in DANSLOKAAL.
What does it mean to you to be one of the choreographers in DANSLOKAAL?
Davide: Being part of Danslokaal 5 is a great opportunity to continue to further develop my abilities as a maker. After creating for Danslokaal 2 and Clarity (part of Conny Janssen Danst’s “Co-Lab”) Danslokaal 5 gives me the chance to set new goals for myself and set new challenges to bring my creation to a new level.
What is it like to work with the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst?
Davide: I am extremely thankful to be able to work with such an amazing group of performers, each of them has an incredible stage presence, great creativity and a really inspiring investment in the work.
Can you tell briefly what the people can expect when they watch your piece in DANSLOKAAL?
Davide: The piece is a mix of dance and physical theater. It’s based on a research about phobias and how different people deal with them. You see the struggle of four individuals looking for help, and how they can take strength from each other in a very particular situation.
