Antonin’s class always starts with an invitation to calm the mind and the body with exercises of breathing, yoga and meditation. These tools are designed to develop clarity of mind and to connect with the body in a more sensitive way. Together, Antonin and the dancers will explore how movement can be initiated from within and move outwards, as well as the other way around.

Beginning with improvisation exercises, he invites the dancers to always remain in circulation and aware of the internal flow that is already present, breathing and playing with gravity. Breathing consciously seems to be a way to hack your self-esteem. A method to give yourself a break. A way to just accept you as you and life as life. All you need for that is a pair of lungs. Antonin uses weight and connection with the floor to travel between fluidity and stability, which are inseparable from his approach to artistic language. The attention that we give to all of the characteristics of the human body will allow us to build new ways of experiencing movement; building trust and letting go, while opening a new path within yourself and your dancing.

Bio
Antonin Rioche has always been a creator and a storyteller. Dance happens to be one of his predominant mediums.Besides that, he is passionate about painting, photographing, and filming. Antonin creates through different lenses of expression. Movement is a root of creation, but not automatically the starting point. His works often depart from a text that he writes. From there, poetic interpretations emerge. For Korzo, he creates The Others and Finally a Sign of Life both for Here We Live And Now, editions 2018 and 2019. In 2020 he was one of the three contributors in  DANSLOKAAL 8 and developed Huidhonger for the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst.

In 2021, he was invited by Nederlands Dans Theater and Korzo to create his first full-length evening performance: Glitter. Aside from stage works, Antonin also likes to write and direct movies. His first solo in 2017, Ohboy!, finally signed off live and the research project: The Leftovers have been nominated and selected for several film festivals and awards. Last year, he premiered his last full-length evening performance: Ohgirl!, co-produced by Nederlands Dans Theater.
