Dansateliers, één van de creatieve partners in DANSLOKAAL, schoof de Italiaanse choreograaf Giulio D'Anna naar voren voor de 3e editie van dit talentontwikkelingsproject. Giulio D’Anna werkt als onafhankelijk maker in zowel Nederland als Italië. Hij studeerde in 2009 af aan de School for New Dance Development (SNDO) en won verscheidene (inter)nationale prijzen. In 2012 werd hij bekend met de succesvolle productie Parkin’son, die hij samen met zijn vader maakte. De band met Dansateliers ontstond met een klein stuk in One Night’s Dance en werd voortgezet met zijn participatie in ChoreoRoam 2011 en onderzoeksprojecten in 2012. In 2013 werkte Dansateliers als co-producent samen met D'Anna voor O O O O O O O, een voorstelling geïnspireerd op verhalen over gebroken relaties en beschadigde intimiteit. Met o.a. de aanmoedigingsprijs van de Nederlandse Dansdagen 2013 maakte hij R-ESISTERE (2014). Met zijn werk zoekt choreograaf Giulio D’Anna naar de mogelijke vertalingen van drama als genre, naar een hedendaagse taal, waarbij ons lichaam een eigen verhaal vertelt. Tragiek, verlangen en humor zijn hoofdingrediënten in zijn werk. Giulio about being a choreographer: Choreography gives me the possibility to unfold the connection between body, emotions and culture. It is a possibility to look inside and outside of a body, at the bright and dark extreme of the human experience. A way to understand and interact with our society.
