Jeroen van Breugel will become the new general manager of Conny Janssen Danst from February 1, 2024. With Jeroen van Breugel, the organization has chosen for an experienced professional from the Rotterdam cultural field. A cultural entrepreneur who can expand the successful course of the company and further strengthen the embedding of HUIS Conny Janssen Danst in the current dance climate.
Jeroen van Breugel currently works as business director of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, where he has successfully worked to increase his own income, increase audience reach and optimize the internal organization. Before that, he worked for many years at the Kunsthal as Head of Development and is involved as a board member at MaMA and the Association of Rotterdam Funds. He was also the founder of ikwashier010. A city-wide platform that draws attention to Rotterdam’s art and culture legacy. In addition to a career in Rotterdam, Jeroen worked for the Universities of Oxford (UK) and Maastricht where he gained valuable experience in international fundraising.
Conny Janssen Danst has been an indispensable link within the Rotterdam and Dutch cultural systems for more than 30 years. With her controversial and innovative performances, her pioneering role in talent development and her outspoken vision on cultural crossovers, she is iconic for the world of modern dance. Jeroen van Breugel succeeds Rick Spaan, who – after eight years general management at Conny Janssen Danst – started this year as general manager of Het Zuidelijk Toneel. Until Jeroen’s arrival on February 1, Rick Spaan will remain involved part-time with Conny Janssen Danst.
