About the choreographers

Patricia van Deutekom
Patricia van Deutekom graduated in 2005 at ArtEZ in Arnhem. Over the years she established herself as a dancer and joined the company by Jens van Daele | Burning bridges, for which she was also working as a co-choreographer and rehearsal director. Patricia supervised the educational team, took care of the artistic content and gave dance workshops and masterclasses for the company. In April 2021, she founded her own company, named LAVA Collective, to move on with her inspiring vision and drive independently, along with creating professional (theatre)dance performances and developing her own unique style and artistic signature as a maker. For her role as dancer in her choreography ‘La Despedia’ (LAVA Collective, 2023) she has been nominated for a Swan for most impressive dance achievement.

Antonin Rioche
Antonin Rioche has always been a creator and a storyteller. Dance happens to be one of his predominant mediums. Besides that, he is passionate about painting, photographing, and filming. Antonin creates through different lenses of expression. Movement is a root of creation, but not automatically the starting point. His works often depart from a text that he writes. From there, poetic interpretations emerge. For Korzo, he creates The Others and Finally a Sign of Life both for Here We Live And Now, editions 2018 and 2019. In 2020 he was one of the three contributors in DANSLOKAAL 8 and developed Huidhonger for the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst.

In 2021, he was invited by Nederlands Dans Theater and Korzo to create his first full-length evening performance: Glitter. Aside from stage works, Antonin also likes to write and direct movies. His first solo in 2017, Ohboy!, finally signed off live and the research project The Leftovers have been nominated and selected for several film festivals and awards. Last year, he premiered his last full-length evening performance: Ohgirl!, co-produced by Nederlands Dans Theater.

About the workshops

Patricia van Deutekom
This workshop is an introduction to the specific identity, dance vocabulary and working method of Patricia van Deutekom and her company LAVA Collective. As a dancer you become acquainted with this by learning repertoire from current and previous productions. In addition to the energetic dance language, you also get to work with the themes of the performances and create new material from your own interpretation through framed assignments, without losing your personal quality and identity. The work is described as explosive, raw, powerful, fast and expressive. The workshop is also known for elements of highly technical floor and partner work and the ‘all or nothing’ character of the pure movement form and performance language of Patricia and her company.

Antonin Rioche
Ohgirl! is a dance-theater workshop that delves deep into the essence of his performance Ohgirl!. During this workshop, you will explore various facets of Antonin’s works and his creative process. It will kick off with yoga and breath exercises, setting the tone for the journey ahead. Through the power of breath, participants will ground themselves in the present moment, establishing a foundation for delving into emotions and movement. This practice not only nurtures mindfulness but also acts as a catalyst for the upcoming artistic exploration. As the workshop unfolds, participants will have the unique opportunity to get to know Antonin’s artistry and learn select segments from the piece. Adi Amit, dancer with Conny Janssen Danst, is one of the dancers who performed the solo in question. Antonin, together with Adi, invites you to explore the intricate interplay between emotion, movement and storytelling, through the captivating medium of dance-theater.
