Makers in VERS&GERS: Tu Hoang & Hiro Murata

June 27-30: False memories

During VERS&GERS – from 13 to 30 June – young makers and established choreographers show their work in HUIS Conny Janssen Danst. Dancers and makers Tu Hoang and Hiro Murata are two of them.

Tu and Hiro danced together for four years in the company of Conny Janssen Danst. In that period they developed a shared vision and sensibility on dance and choreography. In 2022 they won the International Contemporary Dance Festival 27Masdanza with False Memories. During VERS&GERS, the duet can finally be seen in HUIS Conny Janssen Danst, the place where Tu and Hiro created the choreography.

About False Memories
False Memories is the result of a four-year collaboration between the two choreographers at Conny Janssen Danst. The choreography is created around the concept of the psychological mind, through the perspective of two individuals that have an unspeakable connection with each other. In an abstract way, the feeling that they are one entity in their spiritual world remains, whether they are together or separated in physicality. Our memory is a very fragile concept. Sometimes we remember things the way we want them to be. Our imagination takes us to escape our own reality in order to find comfort or peace.
