Dance in places where control creaks.
In powerful, rhythmic movements, Vietnamese-Dutch choreographer and movement artist Tú Hoàng explores in The Error of Being what makes us human in an age of control, speed, and perfection. Five dancers move almost mechanically, until emotion inevitably breaks through. Tú’s hybrid dance language—in which Eastern philosophy, urban, and contemporary dance merge—is amplified in this location-based dance performance by an industrial, musical soundscape. The Error of Being reveals the beauty of wavering, doubt, and breaking: exactly where humanity becomes visible.
This performance is being created as part of NEXT, Conny Janssen Danst’s traveling location-based project. This new initiative annually offers a talented mid-career choreographer the opportunity to create a compact production with the company’s dancers. A performance with urban energy. This brand-new work by Tú Hoàng will appear in unexpected, unusual locations in May and June 2026. Travel along with the dancers and experience a new dimension in each individual location in the already multi-layered work of this dynamic creator.
- Where & when? We’ll announce the locations and performance dates on this page soon.
NEXT offers a platform for creativity and innovation of artists and dancers, while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of traditional performance venues. Presenting work in different locations and for different occasions breaks established patterns, allowing artists to develop a fresh perspective on their work. Conny Janssen
Tú Hoàng
Choreographer and movement artist Tú Hoàng (born 1988) currently works as a creator at Korzo (The Hague). He is known for his dynamic blend of classical and contemporary dance techniques, urban styles, martial arts, and philosophical research.
With roots in Hanoi, Tú is now establishing himself as one of the most versatile and original voices on the European dance scene. Influenced by Taoist philosophy and tai chi, as well as by the internet and club culture, his work operates at the intersection of East and West, body and mind, intuition and control. Through a highly physical, detailed language, Hoàng channels personal and cultural mythologies alongside communal energies. Each piece, developed in close collaboration with dancers, musicians, and other artistic co-creators, becomes a playground for exploring rhythm, energy, emotion, and collective creative power. His work has already received top honors at the International Choreographic Competition Hannover and MASDANZA.
Previous work by Tú for Conny Janssen Danst
For many years, Tú was one of Conny Janssen Danst’s defining dancers. This new collaboration with the company in NEXT is a wonderful follow-up to his previous, successful choreographic contributions: in 2018, he created Humane for the talent development project DANSLOKAAL 6, in 2020 he developed the solo The Hood for Monuments in Solitude, and in 2023, his duet with Hiro Murata, False Memories, was performed during VERS&GERS.
Tú is a virtuoso and versatile dancer. He's creative, pays attention to every small detail, and can speak with every fiber of his being. Tú brings these qualities and his physical strength to the creation of his own work. I'm very exited for this artistic collaboration between Tú and our young dancers. Conny Janssen about Tú Hoàng
