Niek Wagenaar

About Niek’s class
In his Contemporary classes, Niek guides the dancers through an improvisation exploring the principles of his practice, and additionally shares either pieces of repertoire from his works or new phrases. His movement language is fluid and organic, sensual yet powerful, rhythmically exciting and rich in physical sensation and imagery.

Bio
Since graduating from the Urban Contemporary Dance department in Amsterdam, Niek has been working with Hofesh Shechter Company for several years. Currently, Niek also creates his own works as a freelance choreographer in The Netherlands for his Contemporary dance initiative Niek Wagenaar’s Nymphs. He teaches at institutions like Codarts Rotterdam, the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam and Henny Jurriëns Foundation.
