He then went on to work as a dancer for several companies between 2004 and 2012. Following the need for a broader frame to create his own work he went on as a freelance choreographer and has been since 2012 artist in residence at Dansateliers in Rotterdam. For the season 2017-2018, he was a long-term resident at K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg. Loïc teaches ballet in several academies and dance companies. He is currently studying Arts and Humanities at the Open University UK parallel to his artistic practice.
BALLET FOR CONTEMPORARY DANCERS
The class is a very breathy approach to Classical Ballet. It follows the classical set up with a part at the barre and a part in the center. It is constructed as an interdependent web of exercises that aim at enhancing the dancer’s awareness in regard to their own bodies’ coordination in space. By listening to and understanding their individual mechanisms within this class they can emancipate themselves towards figuring out other ways of moving. We do not only move the body, we move the space with it!
