Dansateliers, one of the creative partners in DANSLOKAAL, nominates choreographer Amparo González Sola for the thirteenth edition of the talent development project. In 2026 she will create new work with the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst.
Amparo González Sola (she/her) is an Argentine choreographer and dancer based in the Netherlands. Her work ranges from dance performances to participatory projects and is shaped by feminist activism, her experience of migration and an ongoing search for reciprocity. Her work is characterised by relational gestures, attentive listening and slowing down.
Amparo completed the DAS Choreography master’s programme (AHK, 2022), and the Programme for choreographers Édition Spéciale (CND Paris, 2019). Her works While Taking Shape (2025), The Conspiracy of Forms (2023) and If Every Rock is a Hole (2022) all premiered at the SPRING Performing Arts Festival. She created Gestures as Portals (2025), a durational and site responsive performance, and further developed the participatory project Exploring Reciprocity with Residenties in Utrecht (2019-2023), in which she brought together people from different backgrounds, generations and disciplines.
Amparo is Associate Artist at Dansateliers Rotterdam (2025-2028) and a member of the Cultural Common Lab (Utrecht). She regularly collaborates with other artists, researchers and activists.
The work of Argentine choreographer Amparo González Sola stands out for its invitation to slow down. Through gestures and movements, she builds a physical language that revolves around muscle tension and transformation and plays with what demands attention. As an audience member, you feel your body, from the edge of your seat to floating through space and time, and you wonder: How are we here and now? Lisa Reinheimer (Director Dansateliers)
