Do you want to immerse yourself in the repertoire of Conny Janssen as a dancer? Do you have at least five years of dance experience—preferably in ballet, modern, and/or urban dance—and are you 16 years or older? Are your Saturday mornings free this fall (2025)? 4x YES? Then read on! Starting September 27, Conny Janssen Danst is offering a new repertoire course. This time, the 2019 production KIEM will be the focus of the course.
From September 27 to November 15, 2025, HUIS Conny Janssen Danst will offer a choreography course in which, over six rehearsals, you’ll work towards creating your own short version of KIEM. Together with teacher and dancer Laura Costa, you will work in the Conny Janssen Danst studio with material and methods from the original performance. You’ll also create your own scenes and learn from the creative contributions of your fellow participants. During one of the final rehearsals, choreographer Conny Janssen or a dancer from the original cast will help prepare you for the final showing.

The result of the choreography course will be performed on the afternoon of Saturday, November 15, 2025, in the theater studio of HUIS Conny Janssen Danst. You may invite your own audience to attend.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE: KIEM
KIEM is a performance about resilience, vitality, and the urge to live.
After creating the pieces HOME (2017) and BROOS (2019), Conny Janssen presented KIEM in late 2019 for large theater stages. BROOS was inspired by aging, youth, and the fragility of life throughout its stages, with the declining life of her mother serving as a deeply personal muse—a true embodiment of fragility.
As a counterbalance to this intense process, the need arose to embrace life’s vitality. To look beyond walls, explore new horizons, open the windows, and let in fresh air. KIEM is a performance about the struggle to break free from what holds you back, the urge to burst out. The desire to fill your body with fresh air and embrace new energy and untapped potential.
Golden Swan award winner Conny Janssen increasingly choreographs life processes and transitions rather than simply shows. De Volkskrant
Beautiful, flowing duets that once again showcase Janssen’s ability to translate warm emotionality into inventive dance. NRC
