From 13 to 15 June 2025, the 55th edition of Poetry International will take place: the festival where poetry is celebrated annually with prominent poets from all over the world. On Thursday evening 12 June, Conny Janssen Danst will open the festival in Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam with a one-time, poetic adaption of the performance ZIEL.
Since 1970, the Poetry International Festival has brought the best poetry from home and abroad to Rotterdam. During the festival, poetry lovers can be inspired by a line-up full of readings, discussions, workshops, interviews, debates and performances in LantarenVenster.
This year, it is up to Conny Janssen Danst to officially open the festive anniversary edition in Theater Zuidplein. In a one-time, poetic adaption of the performance ZIEL – about humanity, resilience and the elusive inner landscape – dance and poetry come together in a way that exists only in this moment and on this stage. A unique poetry experience in which top poets from all over the world share the stage with the company’s dancers for one time only.
During the opening program, you will get a 60-minute sneak preview of the festival’s poets. All participating poets will be announced soon. Keep an eye on the Poetry International website for more information.
