Artist in residence: Thomas Fauc

Posted: Tue 28 Oct 2025

Thomas Fauc was an intern dancer last season and this season Thomas will return on stage in the ensemble of INSTINCT. Creating dance and music is another ambition of Thomas. This fall he is working on a residency in HUIS Conny Janssen Danst with two dancers. To research how to translate his artistic vision towards dancers and share this with an audience.

Are you curious about what the studio time that the dancers and Thomas spend together will lead to?
You can see the results on Monday November 3, 2025 at 6:30 PM in HUIS Conny Janssen Danst.
If you are interested, you can register here for a seat >>
(limited capacity, register no later than 2 November 2025)

We spoke to Thomas about his residency:

the hardest part is to translate and describe my intention, my artistic vision. To put words to make myself understood Thomas Fauc

With what plan or question did you start this residency at HUIS Conny Janssen Danst?
‘I had this image of a fisherman and a fish. I find interesting the difficulty of grasping a fish, always slipping away. It made me think of the French expression “glissé(e) entre mes mains”, meaning “slipped through my fingers.”
There are things we long for but can never quite grasp, no matter how much effort we put in. It’s about searching for meaning even when there’s no clear point or ending, each attempt opening the door to a new story, one that drifts into the unexpected and remains forever unfinished.’

You are used to work as a dancer in our studios. And now you are the maker. What is different working as a maker?
I think the hardest part is to translate and describe my intention, my artistic vision. To put words to make myself understood in a language I’ve never really known how to describe.’

Which dancers are you working with, and what is it like to collaborate with them?
‘I’m working with Mia Bourhis and Filippo Gualandris. Collaborating with them is truly inspiring, it’s an open space to share, to feel, and to create together in the best possible way.’

On November 3, you will present the results of this research. What do you expect or hope to share with the audience?
‘I hope to share a space where people can reflect, relate to and sense, leaving behind a certain taste. Like at 11 a.m., after drinking coffee and brushing your teeth. And within all of this, I also hope to share my artistic vision.’

About Thomas
Thomas Fauc is a French-born dancer and creator who trained at the Ballet Junior de Genève before joining Conny Janssen Danst in Rotterdam. In 2025 he performed in Normality No More and Slipping Under.
Throughout the years, he has explored a wide variety of movement languages and creative processes, cultivating versatility and a continuous search for authenticity — both in his physical expression and artistic perception.
His work gravitates toward honesty, sensitivity, and vulnerability, capturing the subtle complexity of human motion.
As a maker, Thomas aims to translate these qualities into his creations — sharing a vision shaped by taste, color, and texture.
This project marks his first dance research in residency.
