In Chanel’s class, we tap into freedom by exploring the different qualities and themes that live in the body. We move through shifting landscapes of imagination and surrender to an endless flow from within, awakening the senses and connecting with your own inner source. We’ll be working with a fluid score of improvisation, creation, or choreography, allowing everything we touch, whether a creative task or a choreographed phrase to melt together into one continuous, embodied exploration.
Through playful improvisation tasks, you’ll be encouraged to dive deeper into yourself while being challenged in your musicality, creativity, and individuality. This practice invites you to discover new layers of embodiment and to return to the simple, genuine joy of moving.
Bio
Chanel Vyent was born in Rotterdam (NL, 1998) with Surinamese roots. At a young age she started dancing and finished her pre-educations on Codarts. In 2019 she graduated from the Amsterdam University of the Arts where she completed her Bachelor of Dance in the Urban Contemporary/Jazz-Musical department. Dancing is for her on of the many voices she connects within her to communicate and share with her surroundings.
She is currently working with Hofesh Shechter Company and has furthermore worked with diverse choreographers & companies such as Conny Janssen Danst, Ryan Djojokarso, Dalton Jansen, Sally Dansgezelschap Maastricht, Erion Kruja, Davide Bellotta, Joseph Simon, Ingrid Berger Myhre, Jasper van Luijk, Heidi Vierthaler and many more.
